I am bored :(

I have realized that building the car is what I love to do. Now that the car is finished I miss the times I spent with it over the last two years.:( I think I am ready to start another project. The show scene is just not my cup of tea. The only person I ever wanted to impress was myself and my father. My father was a Ford nut and made sure I had a wrench in my hand as soon as I could hold it. I lost him to Lukemia when I was in high school and now the only time we get to spend together is when I am in the garage.;) Maybe a FIA stroker this time????[8D]

If anybody knows of someone looking for a nice 427 Cobra have them contact me or PM me their information. Please don't kick the tires though.

Thanks
Brent

WHAT??!!

Make no doubt that building is an absolutely vital element of the whole deal, but, Brent - you gotta DRIVE that beast too!

Not that I disagree with you, understand...your reasons go way beyond the typical boredom issues. And doing another would be kinda like icing on the cake. And I couldn't agree more about shows - stultifyingly, mind-numbingly BORING.

But driving; now that's a horse of a different color. And think about all the tuning of suspension, brakes, and engine work that can gestate from where you are now. You are guaranteed at least another 3 or 4 years worth of time out there with him. ;)

So - you're definately ahead, but why quit now?

I'm stunned as well, but for me, it's ALL about the driving. I don't care for the show thing either. There are a lot of different ways to be bitten by the snake. All I can say is somebody is going to pick up a mighty fine car...one of the best I've ever seen.

Hey Brent. If you're serious, I may be interested. And if you want to build an FIA, I have a brand new engine for you.

My one wish after I had built my car, sure would be nice if my Dad could see this. He like Brent's dad was the mechinical guy, big Chrysler fan though:). Spent 50 years with the (CAA and later known as the FAA) as an Electro Mechanical Engineer involved in Navigation aids. So I understand a little bit about this. It was motorcycles before the Cobra and now I just look for things to do with the Car. I think several guys or gals could tell a similar story.
At some point in time I will probably do another Cobra but time will be a factor. Hope to stay good and healthy for awhile:D, if I couldn't climb tree's (bowhunting), ski the Western slopes, or chase the Elk at 7,000 - 10,000' I wouldnt be happy;). So I will keep my car for awhile and play with it. I don't subscribe to "if it aint broke dont fix it theory", I like to take stuff apart and see if I can put it back a little better than it was:).

Brent,

Everybody has their own reasons for selling...I respect yours. I never saw your car but I know those who have and the car has real legs if you will allow me....
I couldn't build a dog house with a diagram...Sad, but I can't turn a wrench so I don't have mechanical feelings like some of you guys. I like to drive. Driving the car is what it's about for me. I don't go fast, I just know I can if I want to. I don't do stupid things with the car, I just know that I can if I want to. That's the secret here , Brent.....You can if you want to, buddy. Go build another car. Spend some more quiet time with your Dad in the garage. It's glorious to be able to do it because you can...if you want to.

One of the guys in this [holy] Band of Brothers will buy your car and get the best gift that the car can bring... that's the piece of you and your Dad in the garage for those years that you spent making her whole.
Hope you have good luck with the car if you decide to sell it.

Regards from the 110 degree southwest.

Brent I know exactly what you mean about the build part. I have given thought to selling my FIA stroker to build a BB car or GT-40. Are we sick or what.

I can't believe I miss the numbing cold nights doing body prep and sanding and sanding and sanding or getting up at three am to work on the car before I head to the office.

Good luck with the sale.

theres been many guys sell one unique to build another. its just machinery. whatever brent decides to build, im sure he wont leave us out of the build loop. at least i hope not. if i was bored id sell mine and build another in a heartbeat. but that isnt happening soon, got enough on my plate, 2 story addition ( formerly the garage i built my car in) and new garage in progress( no contractors, just me), then a frame up resto on a 71 gto, 2nd car i owned, since 75, stored 18 yrs (real clean) till my kids are all teens and i can teach them what my dad taught me, then a frame up on a 68 ss 350 camaro convertible for my wife, shes wanted one her whole life. brent, i cant wait to see your next project keep us posted. whats the price on your car? 60s? 70`s? later, brian

Brent Lookin good. You may want to call Butch regarding car prices, if you are planning on selling your car as the market value has gone up. I know the market is what you get someone to pay for a car but the starting point may surprise you. Whatever you do and if you need help moving the body like we did last summer down here or some such task I'll be there.

Same for me except a different brand of RTV Sealant in Grey, high temperature. Brent and I used the same stuff.

Some aluminum kits have two pieces that butt up together and will leave a gap that requires some sealant to fill or hide. I made all of my aluminum from scratch and bent 90 degree flanges on all opposing pieces so they would overlap and allow them to be fastened together.I have no areas on any of my aluminum that required sealant.[8D]

Hey Brent, Hope you had a nice vacation. I sent oleblue66 a PM about your car over on the other forum, I see he made an inquiry. Good luck. I'm getting interested in the Roaring forties GT-40 kit. Have you seen that?
