Hot damn!!! Thanks Gasman :D

In mid-April point your rig north, when you get to I-80 head west. I'll have some cold ones iced down awaiting your arrival. We can even throw some steaks on the grill [:P];)

Phil, Are you sure I won't need an SB-100 to visit? It might be cheaper for me to buy you a trailer. ;)

.....Not to worry Steve, all you need is the time for a 7000 mi. round trip and plenty of gas. Hmmmm, his avatar is looking more appropriate all the time:D.

No-no-no.......... 15,000 miles - he has to retrieve it when I'm finished :D Although there is an opportunity to cut that in half. Just hang out in CA, take a vacation, and wait for me to return. Or, better yet, take the trip to SoCal with me :D:D:D

Sorry Chris.... we're kinda acting like CC members and high jacked your topic. It won't happen again ;)

Maybe he is factoring in some of the cost of that spiffy gas from
the 'Purple' drum.( 4.00 a gallon....yeh...)
I bought gas for 1.68 in Michigan last week.

CJ - I envy you :D

It might be time to consider relocating - There isn't a station in CA that I have seen selling the lowest grade or diesel at anything under $2/gal. Then throw SB100 on top of that (ech)! Yeah, time to think about alternatives for my Golden Years.

Just wanted to post an update: I'm on my way to being a fellow Unique owner! The whole family enjoyed the trip and the Weavers, what can I say all of you were right, they are some great folks! (Thx Alan, Maurice for spending the time with us and showing us around we enjoyed it very much. Also very nice meeting you too Poorboy.) BTW we did end up over at the boat drags like you suggested and had a blast. We then hit the Top of the River and stuffed ourselves lol. We did miss the turnkey that some lucky person got so I didnt get any pictures :( , we did get some drag boat pictures but as nice as some of them were, their not Cobras.... Thx again everyone for getting me together with the folks at Unique.

Alan said about 8 weeks Clay. He said he would keep us updated. As bad as I want it soon I ran into some engine trouble so I'm working through that now. When I first built this motor I put about 1000 miles on it and it ran great, but since its been sitting a long time in the garage I wanted to go through it to check out and make sure everything was top notch in it and much to my surprise I had abnormal wear on the 2nd and 4th crank bearings. It was line bored and balanced and there was no balancer or flywheel change so Im thinking it wasnt balanced properly in the beginning. So I put it in the machine shop tuesday to see whats up and get it right before she's dropped in. I'm also going back through it while its tore down replacing every bolt with ARP instead of stock. I also just recieved my new Canton pan and new pickup because I wanted to change out the exsisting rear sump pan. I'l take some pictures as I go if you guys are interested. Btw Its a good looking motor but it doesnt hold a candle to Brent's Thumper.

CJ, Congrats man!!!!

When you built the motor the first time did you re-size the big ends of the rods? If you are replacing the rod bolts with good ones you will need to anyway. Were the bearings evenly worn all of the way around or on opposite sides? (chatter from a balancing issue)

Have Fun!!!

Brent, I mic'd the rods and they looked great and the machinist checked them and confirmed so no they were not resized. The bearing wear was abnormal and I say that because it was a comet shape wear with a long tail 1/8" wide at widest point to nothing about 1 1/4" long not even in the middle portion of the bearing but centered between the middle and the outside edge on both #2 (left half of bearing) and # 4 (Right half of the bearing) Thats why I was leaning toward a balancing issue. I am also going with a Fluiddamper for higher rpm's instead of using the stock one this time because that could have contributed to the problem also.
