If any of you guys can make it, there will be a car show/fund raiser in Columbia next Saturday (July 31). I plan to be there unless it's raining or 400 degrees outside. It's being organized by one of the local FFR guys, but all makes are invited. See the following link for details.

Hope some of your Augusta guys can make it!

Keith, Man I've been waiting for something like this to happen close to us, I'll be out of town :( Clay and I are having a little family reunion with our parents down at Wild Dunes. John Haynie is on vacation also but should be back by then.

Sorry you won't be able to make it. Family first! (It's gonna be hot as hell, anyway.)

We need to plan our own little gathering sometime. Maybe when it's a little cooler.

Not yet, and I'm a little frustrated. The car has been there four days and they haven't even looked at it.

First off, let me apologize to Keith for hijacking his thread.

Clay, John Haynie introduced me to a shop here in Augusta inappropriately named Augusta Transmission Clinic. These guys race Mustangs at Watkins Glen and other tracks. They put my clutch in before Homecoming. They are going to diagnose the problem. If we need to go into the motor, we have a plan to move the car to another shop. I talked to an engine builder this afternoon who was recommended by Phelon Motorsports out of Aiken. Phelon has two original cobras in his shop, one was raced by Dan Gurney. This guy has done several FE motors and seems to know his stuff, although he said it would take him at least a month to do it. [xx(]

Yeah, Cha-Ching, but at least it sounds like it will be in a shop with an FE-guy, who will give it the attention it should have had elsewhere.

What happened to your motor[?]

Kelly, nothing catastropic, just the very excessive oil consumption we saw in Gadsden.

Steve,

What oil do you run? If you are running a synthetic switch to 25-50 Penzoil or something like it and finish out the year. I hate to see you do a winter project in the middle of the summer.

Brent, I suggested he run Valvoline Racing 20w-50w, and I think's that what he's using. I think he's probably away for the weekend. It's not synthetic.

Hey guys, I'm back. John, can't wait to hear about your vacation. Your guys are doing a great job on the HVAC. I told them you sent me by to crack the whip!

Brent, I'm using Valvoline racing 50W which is what the previous owner used. This thing is embarassing to drive smoking as badly as it does, it just can't wait until winter. I'm to the point where I just want to tear it down to see what the heck is going on. I'm guessing here, but I think there are two problems. I'd be willing to bet bad valve guide on one cylinder and bad rings in all eight. I also want to change out the cast iron heads to aluminum. I'd like to change the water pump to aluminum and I'd like to put in roller rockers.

Steve sorry to hear about your engine. Aluminum heads and intake will really cut the weight. Not sure that the rollers will get you much HP for the work required to get them in? They do help in high RPM applications.
