on an electric choke were did you guys tap into for the 12volts needed to make it work . i was thinking to get the 12 volts from the ignition switch.whats your thoughts on this.

That should work, It needs to be energized prior to starting. Most people I have talked to don't use a choke, they pump throtle 4-5 times and start.

use a circuit that is energised only when the key is in the "on" position. brian.

Ditto what Brain said. If you have an electric choke you need to get 12v to it ONLY when the ignition is turned on. I don't remember the source I used, but I do remember looking over the wiring diagram and finding a spare hot lead when the switch is on. If you don't connect it, you will idle high, run lean, and burn the b-jesus out of your eyes balls, not to mention the color of your exhaust (personal experience speaking here :D)
