I rode the Trail of Tears ride today. Thousands and Thousands of bikes and only a couple of minor fender bender type incidents.
It was almost as much fun as the Fling but much much longer.

The Trail of Tears is a motorcycle ride from Chattenooga, Tn to Waterloo, Ms to commerate the forced march of the Cherokee Indians from Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama to a reservation in Oklahoma.
This was the 18th annual ride. Last yrar there were over 90,000 participants.
There is a Highway Patrol escort and all the roads are closed off so there are no stops except for a lunch stop in Madison, Al.
Great fun as the road is lined with people there just to watch the parade of bikes.
It is a lot like the Fling when the Cobras come into London except there are 90,000 bikes and 100's of thousands of people greeting you from the side of the road. There are even boats in the rivers with well wishers as you cross the bridges.
All in all a great event!

It was the 11th Annual ride

The Trail of Tears Commemorative Motorcycle Ride is a ride to raise public awareness of the forced removal of the first people of the region now know as the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. In the 1839's over 17000 men, women and children of the Cherokee, Chickasaw,Choctaw,Creek and Seminole nations were forcibly removed from their homes and marched to the Oklahoma territory. Over 4000 of the people perished along thetrail named "The Trail Where They Cried" This event has grown from ahand full of dedicated motorcycle riders to an event described by Easyrider magazine as "the largestmotorcycle Ride in the country if not the largest in the world".

Thanks Poorboy and Keith. It's a fact of U.S. history, that often forgotten, and perhaps one of the most shameful acts in the history our government. It's worth remembering by all!
