Our club organized a Dyno Day (3 pulls – no tuning - $55) for those that want to see what there cars would do. I was a bit disappointed with the results :( but I know the car needs to be tuned and it starts to miss at 5,600 – 5,700 rpm. All three pulls were almost identical – 300 hp and 316 lbs at the rear wheels with simulated highway conditions. I was told engine hp/torque is approximately 25% greater than what was charted.

The miss has me a bit baffled, so I think I’m going to change out the SA distributor with an MSD Pro Billet (been considering this for awhile, and the dyno results pushed me over the edge). New plugs and some carb adjustment is almost certainly required, although you can tell by the exhaust pipes that the 70/30 mix is keeping it running clean. [^]

At any rate, this car has plenty of kick for my use, and that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Phil, I'm no expert but your exhaust almost looks a little too lean to me.

Eric Miller had the same lack of power issue. He should be able to point you in the right direction.

Good Luck

Phil, what did the A/F ratio look like? I had 24 pulls on my car at the dyno and they did some serious tuning, jetting etc. I picked up 35 HP at the end. My Windsor made 385 HP and 402 ft/lbs torque at around 6K by the time they were done. The real benefit of the dyno is as a tuning tool.

Tony,

There was no tuning, just the HP and torque ratings. Since then I have done some carb adjustment, timing (new MSD), etc. It has more umph than it had then, but I'll bet there is more to be had. I need to make another date for some serious tuning ;)
