Hi, I just ordered a DP Unique after following this forum for a few years. Original plan was to build engine and paint myself but age, wisdom, and prior experience has me leaning toward a 406 from SA and paint job from Bruce Bunn. Planning to get a good basic setup then add things later like turkey pan, surge tank, etc. as budget permits. I ordered the adjustable coilovers to accomodate Trigo wheels but what other options should I consider on the initial setup from Unique? Posi? Heat shields?. Thanks

Posi is nice - heat shields are a must have! The aluminum in the engine bay is nice (but not necessary) and can only installed prior to assembly, unless of course you plan on breaking it down later.
I have the oil cooler package (aluminum, cooler, and lines), which I would highly recommend. I love the Autometer gauges. I passed on the fender-mounted mirror and substituted a bullet mirror and bracket (from Finishline) that mounts to the windshield frame. I did go with the inside dash mounted mirror. They are both very functional. There is lots of other stuff you can pick up later as the project progresses - that way you have an excuse to buy accessories later [8D]

I have an SA 406, and to date am pleased with the results.

Good luck and welcome aboard!

According to the Unique website ( http://www.uniquemotorcars.com/ ) the powerlock option (#52) is $750.00, but you should confirm w/Alan.

Make sure you pick the correct weight (300#, ect.) of the front and rear springs for your driving style. Also is a heater an option you need, Sway bars, front and rear, Steering Dampner, emergency brake kit, the list goes on and on. Best thing to do is discuss the options with Alan and Maurice. Some options are one time deals, if you dont get them at first you have little or no chance later on, (example, aluminum engine compartment). Study the options and the feasibility of adding later.

If doing over, I would definitely go with emergancy brake handle and not the valve. Never used valve because of problems others have had with it sticking closed.

Ditto on the manual emergency brake! My in-line brake does work but I can't trust it not to bleed off.

I did forget the e-brake option. I would go that route rather than the line-lock if I had it to do over.
