Does anybody know when the front suspension changeover occurred, from the MGB to the Unique design?

My car is chassis #9229, and was built in '97. I just want to know which type I have. Is there an easy way to visually tell?

Thanks,

Russ

Russ,
I believe they moved away from the MGB in 1993. Alan needs to verify this for us.
However, you can tell if yours is the new type by looking to see if you have a coil over shock bolted to a bracket that is welded to the main frame rail above the front cross member.
The MGB even, as modified by Moss or Hawk, did not have this bracket.

Any MGB suspension or variant has a large curving beam with the upper and lower suspension parts mounted directly to it. The Unique front suspension is all square and rectangular tubing (except the arms themselves) and the upper shock mount welds directly to the frame rail.

I have a bunch of pictures of our modified Hawk suspension in my 'chapters' that also show the MGB beam.
