Hood without scoop and undercar exhaust

I am seriously considering purchasing a Unique 289 Turn Key and would like to have the hood with no scoop.

Has anyone here photos of a Unique 289 without scoop? Any one know of any Unique 289 with undercar exhaust?

I am making my decision soon and would like to have answers to the above questions.

Juan, it is a beautiful car, having seen it in person, and lest anyone have any doubts about how well the Unique body holds up, Jim's car is a 1982, I believe.

I think the 289 Unique is one of the most beautiful shapes out there. I think without the scoop or sidepipes it will be very close to a slabside.

I'm the third owner of this car. It was built by by a shop in Florida. Knowing the way the guys at Unique work, I'm sure they could put together an under car exhaust system as part of your order.

My car uses cast iron OEM 64 Mustang manifolds (mounted backwards) and custom fit exhaust/tail pipes. I haven't found a set of "off the shelf" tubular headers that will fit. The mufflers are tiny little things (maker unknown) but they look more like resonators than full fledged mufflers.:)

The gas cap is mounted directly on the gas tank and is filled by opening the trunk first.;)

This cars body is an early 427 style, but the rear fenders look smaller than the ones on later cars. To me it looks half way between a FIA car and 427 S/C car:D:D

Beautiful car Jim. I have wanted to build a slab side but my better half has put the skids to that till after I retire. So Lil' Cobra will just have to do till then!

Juan, I recall our talk in Pigeon Forge and our discussion about the intrinsic beauty of the slab sides. Have you sold your car?

Hi Ralph:

Yes the FIA is the closest I can get to a slab side. I wish I could aford a slab side CSX8000 Series from Shelby but at $60,900 for just the car minus engine and transmission the total of at least $77,000 is way too much for my wallet.

I believe that using the Unique 289 body as the starting point using a solid color with no stripes and deleting scoop and side pipes it makes for an affordable and wise alternative.

Within the next two days I will place my order for a Unique 289. Yes I sold my car to a very fine Gentleman from Omaha, Nebraska. He is in love with the car.
