From the guy that had the drive shaft too long - Gerry and I were working on the emergency brake this weekend and the cable seems way too long (about 1 foot?).

Total length of the cable is about 4 feet long (to first caliper) and it seems like I only need about 3 feet. Any thoughts?

Yup, you have to cut it to fit your application. If you look at the end that attaches to the brake handle you will see two set screws that hold the end on to the cable. Undo the screws remove the end and the inner cable can then be removed from the outer case, cut to length required and reassemble. I removed 22" from the outer case on mine and a little more from the inner cable. Before you pull it apart attach it at the ebrake caliper levers and route it as you would like then measure from where the cable end is to where it needs to be I'll bet you will be close to the 22" difference I had. Disassemble and cut the cable case at the caliper end (has the slip on bushing ) then cut the cable at the handle end reassemble and you will be good to go....

Dremmel Tool with the little cut-off wheel works great, very need cut on the braided steel cable.

Thanks guys - ended up using the Dremmel to cut off just about 27 inches. E Brake works great - real tight fit around the Tremec but the position was right.
