What is the widest rear tire that I can fit on an FIA and a 427 in both 15in and 17 in wheels? It seems like the 295 is common, but will a 315 or 335 fit?

I have 265/50/16's on the rear of my FIA. With the 15's you can get a 295 I think.

I have tried ALOT of tires on my 427 in the last year. I have gone back to a 275-60-15 on the rear and a 245-60-15 on the front. I think the 295-50-15 is too short on the car as it does not fill the wheel opening and it makes the tail of the car "saggy" in my opinion. The 245-60-15 is about 26.7" tall and the 275-60-15 is about 28.0" tall. A 295-50-15 is only 26.5" tall

My .02 cents worth.

Has anyone tried a 315 or 335 in a 17inch wheel?

Go on Tire Rack.com and they have the dimensions of the tires when you bring the specs up. Might help

I have 295 15's on the rear of my 427.
I do not have the Comp. wheels with the 5 1/2 inch back space.
The tire hits the wheel arch at bumps and on hard cornering.

I run 265 15's on the front with no problem.

Justin
Just a couple of bits of additional info.
My rear rims are 10 inch.X 15
My front rims are 8 inch.X 15.
Both the fromt AND rear rims have a 3 and 1/2 inch backspace.
