Clay, thanks for the posting! Yes, an emergency brake installation is in the plans for the near future. The car has the emergency brake calipers installed. ERA has a mounting bracket welded to the frame. How are Unique owners attaching their ebrakes? I'm a little concerned about simply bolting a bracket to the fibreglass tunnel. I envision fabricating a steel backing plate .. at least.

It's 6:40 am .. and I'm off to gas her up, stop by the office, then off to a local "cobra mechanic" to give her a check up before tomorrow's cruie to the Keys.

Rick, you're welcome.

Unique does have a retrofit kit for the e-brake that does include a backing plate for the tunnel. Call the Weavers....they're great at customer support on parts and advice, even though you didn't buy the car from them (I didn't).

Clay, have you installed the emerg brake? How effective is it? My mechanic built a tricked out FF (power steering) and he said he installed an emergency brake .. but that it does not hold very well. Curious. At this point it's all new information and I don't really know what to expect on many fronts.

The car checked out well this morning (outside of a manifold gasket that needs to be replaced). The frame, chasis, suspension .. all like new .. as they should be with 2000 miles on the car. I feel better with a certified mechanic giving the thumbs up on all fronts. It looked good to me but I am not a mechanic. Off to the Keys in the am.

Rick, I bought the retrofit kit, and it was on my to-do list this past winter, but like many things, it didn't get done. Given the design and the Jaguar caliper set up, which you already have, if it's installed and adjusted properly it will definitely hold. It's a very sturdy set-up.

All the newer cars have the same design now, and I think those owners would testify to the design. Check the link that Phil posted. It's all you need to see how it's installed.

In the meantime, I'm still carrying a little fold-up chock around in the trunk.

Clay, you have a 2*4 that folds? Seriously, thanks for the comments on the e-brake, it is definitely on the to do list. After I have the intake manifold gasket replaced. Very small oil leak.

Burned about 10.5 gallons of gas in the past day, estimate 150 miles (speedo is not connected). Great 100 mile round trip this morning for a cup of coffee at a Circle K in Key Largo (down Card Sound Road .. 2 lane .. overpass over the IntraCoastal Waterway .. no traffic), then out around the perimeter road of the Homestead Speedway. Down shifting the cobra into and accelerating out of turns is amazing .. flat .. flat.

Takes me back to my MGA in 1968 .. except .. power. Wow!

Thanks Russ .. Looks like a case of twins!! Had one problem at my mechanics with the 289. Pipes were too low for his lift arms to fit.
He maintains a dozen or so 427 Cobras and never had the problem.

I'm probably going to get a jack and some jack stands for my garage to do basic maintenance at home.

Little off topic, but what the hey - Didn't make it to Key Largo this weekend, but did 100 miles through the Gold Country (Ione/Jackson) http://ione-ca.com/home/ione/history.htm .... http://ci.jackson.ca.us/ in the spring this is one incredible drive [^][^][^]

Phil .. I'm jealous!! Foothills .. 1200 feet above sea level. Hills, mountains, twisting roads. That's a dream. In south Florida we go from 6 feet above sea level to 9 in a high spot! Hills are overpasses. Enjoy every second of i!!
