I am totally satisfied with the Billstein Shocks and the Hypercoil Springs. I would do it over again in a heartbeat. I just like the monotube shock better. There is no doubt about it the Hypercoil springs are better, they are involved in all types of Racing, a chromed spring is not good. The chroming process changes the characteristics of the spring and they are not consistant. The Hypercoil springs are all powder coated blue, no big deal, Cardnial Red is preferred.
I took Ralph Scott for a ride not too long ago and he said he could tell the difference. We only went on a 15 mile ride. I like the 350# springs in the front and 325# in the rear. Steve I havn't tried the 375# so I don't know how they would be. It's a costly process but I had good luck selling the original front Carerra's on eBay ($200.00) and my rear shocks went to a good home for a person on this site. So I recovered some of the cost of the upgrade. Also Jim Highland the Billstein Area Manager was very helpful, he lives in GA.

The cut and paste above is from a December thread written by Rick Bagley. Slither, thought you might be interested in the fact Rick sold his front shocks for $100.00 apiece but his advice to you was to offer me $50.00. Thanks Rick!

I'm simply trying to recover some of my investment in upgrading my springs and shocks. The last thing I'm interested in doing is taking advantage of anyone. I believe I've made that very clear to "Slither" on the phone tonight. Think of this thread as ebay, the shocks will go to the best offer posted here. Fair enough?

Steve,

As I mentioned on the phone tonight, Rick thought he remembered selling his for $75 each. I also mentioned that I have no problem with you taking a better offer. You know I spoke with several folks today, and they concurred on the value. I sent the photo to Rick so that he could help me to understand what I was evaluating. I appreciate his input, as well as his willingness to help, since my project is still in the virtual mode, and, quite frankly, I know little about it. Does that mean that he ruined your sale? You still retain the veto power. In the discussion with each person today, we talked about being fair to you. And yes, I also appreciate your sincerety in not taking advantage of folks.

Is it possible that there is a difference in the shocks he sold and these? We have all seen photos of Rick's pristine ride on the cover of Kit Car. Are the shocks pictured above equivalent to what he had on his car, similar mileage, etc.? (I am not saying one way or the other, but doesn't it make sense to consider that?) He would be able to evaluate it best. As you and I discussed tonight, he has offered to evaluate them in person at homecoming, since I am unable to make it. I would guess he will do that for the highest bidder. Let that bid win... $300.01 for the set pictured beats me out!

Steve if you still have the shocks in May bring them to Gadsden. I'm interested in the rears if they will be an upgrade to the stock shocks I have.I have the Carrera's on the front.

Paul, The serial number of my car and that of Rick's car are seperated by 16 cars. Unique installed the same shocks on both cars. Rick and I both replaced our shocks with Bilsteins and Hypercoil springs,

Am I to understand your bid is $75.00 each for the two front, and $150.00 for the four rear? Please confirm.

Steve,

In viewing your shocks, the 2 front shocks differ greatly, whats up with that? The length seems different.
And we are not talking apples to apples, my rear shocks were re-buildable Carrera's with aluminum bodies not steel bodies. They were an upgrade because Carrera was out of the normally supplied steel bodied shocks.
ATTN: ALL POTENTIAL BUYERS
All rear Unique shocks are not the same[:O]. Depends on the car FIA vs 427 and the wheels, pin drive, bolt on, ect.
So what Steve needs to do is post the collapsed height and the extended height (eye to eye) so that the buyer can made an intelligent decision.
Steve didn't you make the comment that your left front spring was broken? If so is there any internal damage?
What are spring rates on the front and back shocks? Buyers need to know that too.
If the shocks check out OK they are worth around 50.00 each. My opinion;).
My sale price on eBay was with shipping, and they definetly were not abused. Plus they were waxed and polished:).
The person buying off this site will be with you for a long time....

Phil,

I told you where and how to sell that SA Hybrid distributor:D:D.
Ebay is fine for that and you get top dollar[^], I just would not sell mine to a Unique owner, buyer beware[V].

Steve,

If your going to do the biding thing as on eBay go there and not here. My feelings.
We don't need the members here getting ticked off.
If not then post a price for them and be done with it.

Personally, I hate selling race car parts to friends. I don't mind brackets or mounts or non working parts of any kind, however, when you deal with "performance" parts more often than not they will fail and it does cause bad feelings.

Just my opinion,

Thanks Rick, How do I contact him? Also, a part number would be helpful. Selling my shocks and springs on ebay isn't an option unless someone has a market for scrap metal. The springs on my car look like they have 100,000 miles, all of those mile logged at Riverside. Hypercoil is absolutely the way to go on a performance car. I'm going to try the 325 on the rear.

Steve, it seems to me you set the value not me.
$50.00 each for scrap metal is a pretty good deal;).
