I drove mine to work today in the rain. I followed a semi on the interstate and it is filthy from bumper to bumper. I parked it under a tree and it has sap all over the top of it. I took the dog to the vet this afternoon and the carpet is covered with hair. My daughter dropped an ice cream cone on the passenger seat and she had muddy shoes on. On the way home I had to take a detour on 12 miles of wet gravel road.

I am not ready for homecoming

<img src=images/icon_speech_yeah.gif border=0 width=29 height=15 alt=Insert Speech Icon: Yeah!>:D, actually, where I come from you are perfectly good to go, Brent!

Bugs on the windshield and front end that are left over from last year; most of the gunk underneath wiped off only because the slave cylinder gave up and leaked on everything, and was dripping on me while I did the nuts & bolts tighten-up last weekend.

But only got 266 miles on it between 5 pm Saturday and 3 pm Sunday. Wife is particular about breakfast and grocery shopping Sunday mornings, so had to stop for a while and address her needs :)

Kelly, TMD makes a stroker crank for a Cleveland. I used a TMD kit for a Windsor stroker and it was pretty nice for the money. In a street motor I think it would be fine.

Just a thought.

Didn't know TMD made a crank for a cleve. Going bullet proof with forged steel crank and H beam rods. Didn't think about SA, to late now to change orders.

If I have to, will put the engine that was in the car back in. Figure I have until the weekend before homecoming to do that. But if that happens, am I ever gonna be pi$$ed!!!!!!!!

I spoke to Scat yesterday and they said:

3.850 SCAT Forged Steel Crankshaft (These Crankshafts are on National back order and WILL NOT be ready until July 1, 2004)

Maurice drove our FIA car to the lake last week and did park under a tree, the car is full of sap and bugs but is about to get its annual clean up. We just took the black car with the Nascar engine off the show room floor and it will get its first wash since last years event.

Took some advice and called Southern Automotive this evening and asked about cranks, they have several 4.0" cleveland Skat cranks in stock. Said they will call me in the morning to quote price (as if that matters at this point[B)]) and get it shipped:D

Hopefully we will be putting her in this weekend[^]

Can't wait to hear this bad boy fire up:D:D

Oh, BTW, talked with Alan today and he told me that I really needed to get that engine in the car, get at least 40-50 miles on it before the cruise, take it easy on the cruise and then it should be ready to go.
I asked him, when have I ever taken it easy on anything[:O]
Alan said, yeah.....you're right. That's why we will have a chase truck and trailer:D

Now you tell me!!

The chrome shop wanted a fortune to do the inside of the bellhousing and the pressure plate housing but they folded. They were very reasonable on the transmission case and the engine block. I hope they have them ready this week.

Reality: I have a rear cam plug that leaks oil and I can not stand it any more. Thought it was the rear seal or the intake and after replacing BOTH OF THEM it still leaked. Should have it back together next week. I hope.

Wax the frame eh? I hose mine off occasionally! My trophies are a spindle with a bearing race welded to it and a flat tappet that is not so flat any more! I hope to hit 30,000 miles on the way back from Bama'. 14,000 miles its first 17 years of life...... then I came along! When it falls apart, I will tear it down and restore it....... then I will probably start waxing the frame!

Looking forward to the event. My wife is coming as well so I will have to be on my 'best' behavior. Maybe in London this year I will be able to cut loose a bit since she will be busy preparing for our trip to Mexico.

Like to go to london in june too, Rick, is someone else putting together a meet in Elyria, Ohio the same time? What happened?Will-alabama.No leak in engine compartment, Brent, gets everywhere, belts slip, can be a mess.Hope you get her patched up alright. What kind of wax are you using on the frame Rick?

rdorman
April 26th, 2005, 11:58 AM
I have ever bit of faith that Brent and Kelly will get it together if at all humanly possible.

Yes Will, there is an event in Elyria the same weekend as in London. Caused quite a little stir that one did. For me, the only thing that moved to Elyria was the name DVSF. Ed (DV) Combs is no longer involved, retired if you will. Personally, I will stick with the London Ohio, Cystic Fibrosis tradition instead of following a name! Both events should be a lot of fun and have a bunch to offer.

See all of you in a couple short weeks!

NEXT WEEK[:O] Must be having a difficult time getting the wax off of the clutch disc:D

Good news on my end, Southern Automotive had the exact crank (Scat 4.0" forged steel/nitrided) I needed and shipped out today, paid the bucks and will be overnighted to my machine shop by 11 am tomorrow:D

[?]I think I got to go to some exotic stroker or big ol' FE or something like that; I'm feeling left out. :(

Every year it's the same thing......clean up as best as reasonable, change oil and antifreeze, check trans and rear levels, down off the stands and into the street. For the next 5 or so months, put gas in it and just flat drive the sh*t out of it. [:P]

It doesn't break. It doesn't stop running. It doesn't fart, or misfire, or pop, or overheat, or quit, or.......(yes, I am knocking on wood right about now..). Nice run of about 50 or 60 miles last nite, scaring the h*ll outta horses in pastures with the noise and (heh, heh..) the navigator on the tighter bends. Had a MiniCooper S in sights when she tossed over THAT glare - and YES, the Cobra will catch them, corners and all. :)

Humph. What's wrong with this picture?
