First and foremost I want to thank everyone who responded to my previous question regarding carpet installation. So far I have installed ThermoTec heat shield on the trans tunnel (front to back) as well as the front and inside of each footbox. Should I put ThermoTec on the floor of the footboxes? How about in the floor-pan on the driver's side? Why is jute the recommended pad? Would a different type of pad that is more resistant to water be better?

Thanks
Gerry

Gerry, I was told by a long time Upholstery guy that jute will last 30 years where carpet padding breaks down quickly. I also used thermo Tec on the tunnel, footboxes sides, front and along the length of the car following the exhaust.

Ditto. There is really no need to put the heat shield on the floor pan, it won't hurt, but not necessary.
