i know this was discused somewhere before. to size the cable do i need to remove cable and cut housing to length, then cut cable to length ? does the cable fitting at the pass caliper need to be crimped on or what? i would hate to cut the cable too short i have seen the pictures but does anyone have any exact measurements?

Scott,

Yes you have to take it apart and cut both the cable and the outside sleeve that it slides within. There's no way to give you an exact measurement, because it depends upon: 1) how you route the cable, and 2) where you mount the brake handle. It involves a little trial-and-error, because if you leave it too long, you won't have enough adjustment left. The only big mistake you can make is to cut it too short, so take little steps.

I can tell you that the cable and sleeve supplied by Unique is way too long, as Alan said it would be. They did that on purpose because it's no big deal to custom cut it to each specific application.

Scott,

The cable is cut on the end where it is attached to the parking brake handle. There is an allen nut (on the hexagonal cylinder) that is loosened, the cable comes out, cut it, and re-insert.

The other bracket inserts on the driver's side caliper, the cable is threaded through the pass. side caliper, with a nut on either side of that caliper ear to hold it in place. No crimping is required.

I just crawled under my car to verify all this.

Scott maybe this can help with Clays description.

The Cable can be run in front or behind the frame depending on where
you mount the bracket for the cable. I ran it to keep from having any sharp bends of the cable. Leave a little slack on the caliper side to allow the cable housing to move. It reminds me of a bicycle's brakes. The cable is strapped to the frame on the lower part.

Both are really nice cars as everyone else has stated.

I enjoy being around Unique owners and talking cars, motors, suspension, etc. Alot of close bonds are quickly made and the hospitality starts at the factory and extends throughout the ownership family. The Superformance group is more comprised of people with money that think a Cobra looks cool and wants one. You will see alot of Superformance owners at the local Grease Monkey for an oil change, clean fingers, and an English hat. But do not ask a question about the car because they have never seen the underside of it.

And I am sure it has a 650hp small block in it ;)

Brent...Nothing wrong with a 650 hp small block...As long as it is in a car with cut-back doors.

Phil, Tony's off on a family vacation this week, and still waiting for his painter. He's gone as far as he can without getting the body back.

It's bloody hot with even worse humidity in the mid-Atlantic states, and I'd hate to be painting or doing body work under these conditions.
