After gettin the car home I set about desiding where to start. The floor and footboxes attracted the most attention so it made sence to start there. I did contact the Weavers about getting the parts but desided to rebuild it from scatch. My fiberglassing experience comes from my growing up in Montana. Dad was a snowmobile dealer and the weekend outings with my 4 brothers were hard on fiberglass hoods among other things. Anyway here are some shots of the floor and footbox area.

The back panal, rear sections of the floor and tunnel were cut out but not discarded. They are visable in the next two shots.

rdorman,
I did think seriously about doing it in aluminum, but after alot of reserch decided to do fiberglass. I could'nt help but wonder why the original Cobras had fiberglass footboxes when the rest of the car was aluminum. My guess is that it was done this way because fiberglass is an insulator and aluminum is not. Anyway, thats why I'm sticking with fiberglass.

Rod, there also is the structural strength that the fibergalss footboxes provide as well as the rear bulkhead. Fiberglass is a good choice to reduce body flex.

Good points! I think they needed to change the footboxes on the AC's and fiberglass was the thing at the time. Lots easier then a semi-monoque footbox!
