after rapping my head on the trunk lid enough times to make me silly, i made a prop rod which slides over the existing rod. it increases the open height by 50% (21" to 31")and is made from a 24" piece of 3/4" pvc, a cap, and a 5/16 X 1" nylon bolt and nut. cost about $2.50.
mickey mouse.

I used a 12 inch length of flared end brake line
that just slips over the end of Unique prop rod and
fits the hole in the trunk lid..
Works well ( 12 Years.)
