I had the rear camber adjusted today and the mechanic doing the work pointed out a problem with my Aluminum Oval Cobra Air Cleaner; there was a 1/16 - 1/8 " gap between the top of the air filter element and the top of the air cleaner. I took the top of the air cleaner assembly off and put a straight edge on it and darned if it wasn't warped. Have any of you folks come across this problem? Thinking it would be a very good idea to replace....

bob,
i dont have a cobra air cleaner but if i remember correctly they have
a flat base that lays on top of the air filter. i would think you could just
get some type of weatherstrip and bond it to the area that rides on top the
filter. this will compress when tightened and seal any small gaps. i would
think that the local home depot/lowes auto/truck repair dept would have
something that would work...not that anything from these stores would
happen to be on anything i own.......

enjoy,

Good point, Chris,

I'll check out the local hardware store and see if I can find some weatherstripping that will do the job before I invest in another air cleaner. I think I now understand why the original carb went south ....
