I want to mount my fire extinguisher on the transmission tunnel. Not sure if it will go just under the dash or all the way back between the seats. Suggestions? What is the best way to mount? the tunnel is fiberglass? Just drill a couple holes and mount with stainless wood screws? Should I check under the areas before drilling? thanks peter

I mounted mine between the seats, only because godforbid you have an electrical fire under the dash(most likely place) thats a little to close for me to grab the extinguisher....just my 2 cents.

Mounted mine on the tunnel in front of the shifter. I was afraid I would hit the back of my arm when shifting if I mounted it on the rear bulkhead.

I installed a fire system (Cold Fire) in the trunk. That is the canister is in the trunk. You then install the supplied aluminum lines with nozzles (x2) up to the engine compatrment and the other pointing straight at me, from under the dash. I've cut a small hole, 1/2", between the seats for the activation knob. It comes with a safety pin. When you feel you might need it just pull pin and hit your elbow on the knob. This stuff is what's replacing Haelon. Safe as water, no messy clean up, and you can still breath the air (Haelon evaculates oxygen - that's how it works). A little expensive, but the 427 and I are worth it.

I mounted mine same as Brent's. I used nylon nuts and bolts with a flat washer rather than relying on screws in the fiberglass. And yes, it is a good idea to check on the other side before drilling ;)

Mine is on the bulkhead, between the seats. This is just perersonal preference, no right or wrong way. Look at both ways and pick the one you like.

If you have long legs and have a tendency to let your right knee rest
on the tunnel, you may find your knee now rests on the end of the
extinguisher.....not too comfortable.
I now keep my extinguisher in the trunk....I never lock it anyway.

Peter,
Mine is mounted like Rick's between the seats on the bulkhead.

I also went with Halatron filled, more expensive but is not corrosive like the normal dry extingisher. I hope we never have to use one, but if we do it will put the fire out and not leave a real mess!
