Master Cyl. Question

It Feels Like My Brakes Have Air Or A Bad Master Cylinder. Pedal Travels About An Inch Before It Feels Like Anything Is Happening. I Would Like To Know The Size Of Master Cylinder Used In Our Cars And If That Much Travel Is Right.also Has Anybody C/out There Master Cylinder To One Master Cyl. To Opertae The Frt And Rear Brakes W/a Proportioning Valve . As Alway Help Is Appreciated. Thanks Garcia

1" does not sound bad. Ignoring system complience, that is only about .011 of combined piston travel. I think they generally use .75 master cylinders. I would not change to a tandom master cylinder...
