I have the cast aluminum "COBRA 427" with fins on the top. I am in the process of putting new gaskets on due to leaky cork ones that were there.
First thing I notices was the bolts were pretty loose, and there was no washer of any kind, is this correct? I would think a locking washer of some type. The gaskets are stuck to the head not the valve cover, shouldn't it be visa-versa?
One of my buddy's told me about 4 ft lbs of torque when I go to install, does this sound right?
What I would like to do is clean them up perfect, then shoot a couple of coats of Eastwood Hi-Heat clear Satin....has anyone done this?
What is the best way to clean these suckers anyway, I am using denatured alcohol and it is not working so good.
Thanks...Dave

Dave,
I used lock washers under cap screws to secure my valve covers. I looked up the the specs on the torque. The table shows 4-7 ft/lb. For cleaning I have used Naptha.
