For my Cobra 427 build, my engine will be a 427 small block (i.e, a Dart IronEagle block 351W with a 4.125x4 bore). So, my question is what thermostat you guys recommend/ use.... 160, 180, 195 or 205 deg? My guess it's one of the middle two.:o

Thanks Mark

EFI or Carb? I run a 180 in both my carburetor cars. For EFI, you might want to run from 195 to 210 depending on the type of system. Carbs usually don't care, but EFI computers usually wants something around 200 to go closed loop.

My engine is a 427 Southern Automotive stroker, dual Holleys and I run a 160 degree t-stat with the bleeder hole drilled in the top of the flange. Also, run water wetter additive with straight H2O (no antifreeze). Temp comes right up, runs at 160 until you stop at red lights, traffic, or whatever, then climbs to about 190 and stays there with the fans (puller and two pushers) running. That's what works for me.

While I'm signed in looking at the jet, I had a 160 and was scared of red lights. Changed out to a 180 and it actually runs cooler around town. I guess the water gets to stay in the coils a little longer thereby cooling more.
