Nitrogen Dampers

Has anyone here tried the nitrogen dampers for the trunk lid?

I just took one off a car in for a repaint, they have so much pressure it pushes the deck lid to one side leaving a large gap on the other side. They are not made for a light weight deck lid or hood.
