Not a single traffic sign or warning coming up to this right angle turn.

WOW! Scary moment for sure. Glad to hear you are ok! The car can be fixed, and I think it might buff out.

When I was much younger and still in high school. All the car guys took an English class from a particular teacher. This teacher was into high speed rally racing. Teaching was his second job or so he claimed. He told a story of a similar situation. They were on a straight road with rolling hills and a sharp right hand turn up ahead. There were power lines on poles to one side. The driver was watching the line of poles for the turn. The problem was that the road turned but the poles continued straight. They ran off the road at over 100MPH and totaled the car. Driver and navigator were both okay.

Hi Paul,

You caught me off guard with your call so please excuse my stumbling and stammering. I'll post here regarding what the final disposition is with #4279436. I really appreciate your call, so thanks for checking on us. It means a lot!

Good luck with your project.

I received a call from the insurance company today. They are calling it a total loss :( and :). I'm sad because it was a beautiful car and awesome to drive. I am happy because I didn't want it back after what it went through.

No worries, Phil, it's been a loooong time! Do you have a buy-back option? You put a lot of work in that motor... hopefully that was not damaged. Perhaps it is easier to start with your car than start over again...

I do have a "buy-back" option, just don't know what the price is at this point. Someone said 10% of the value. If that is correct I'll take it, but have to wait and see. The motor and drive train are the only things I'm interested in...... maybe tires and wheels if they are straight.

The frame and suspension are probably fine, as is the interior... new body and paint and you are good to go! (Perhaps?) Keep the roll bar for braggin' rights;)! Of course you can't top Alan's roll bar from Charlotte, pictured! I guess you will need to really get into it to know for sure. Keep us posted. Best of luck on it!

When I roller the Cobra at Charlotte Motor Speedway I was told by a guy at the event that if I were driving his car I would be dead, his roll bar was made from exhaust pipe. His car was made by one of the top manufacturers at the time.

Hey Phil,
I would put in low ball "Bid". The FE , trans. and Jag rear would be the start of a nice build.
I know you had the motor built not that long ago. You might get it for cheap!!!

Is there a replacement on the horizon?

Hi Stan, Just saw this. No, no replacement. We miss the drives, but that was a little to close even though I was behaving. **** happens when you least expect it and I don't want to press our luck. We had 15-16 good years with the car and met a lot of great folks.

Phil:

I can understand what your saying. It only took a number of very close calls (also not of my doing) on my last motorcycle to change my mind about keeping it. It just did not seem worth the risk after riding for 40+ years to keep it.

We had a saying at work whenever we went to a motorcycle accident "He with the most lug nuts wins", and that did not always hold true (several dogs had fewer broken bones than the rider).

I would rather be around for the grand kids weddings and births of the great grand kids.

Hope you and your bride have a good new year.

Stan
